Who verifies the content on this site
Every regulator fact on this site - the 6-hour requirement, the statute and rule citations, and which providers appear in our research - is checked against the Illinois Secretary of State's own published rules or an existing sourced research draft in this project's own corpus before it is published. Every source used is dated, and every dated source appears in the ## Sources table at the bottom of the page that cites it. Facts we cannot source this way are marked as unverified and are never presented as confirmed.
A 2026-09-19 browser load confirmed the Illinois SOS's own official provider roster is a plain, public HTML table, not bot-walled; all four providers named on this site are confirmed against it. That roster lists company name, website, course type, and phone number, not certification numbers, so a provider-stated certification number still cannot be checked at the record level. We say so plainly on /approved-providers/ rather than presenting our provider list as the SOS's own full roster (it lists roughly 60 providers statewide; this site profiles four).
How often this site is reviewed
Every page carries a "last verified" and "next review" date in its own metadata, and the default review cycle is every six months unless a specific Illinois statute, rule, or provider price changes sooner, in which case the affected page is re-checked immediately and the dates are updated.
